About Shun Fung

Since the 1970's, even before Shun Fung Engineering Ltd. was formed, founder YY Chan, was already active in the Cummins after-sales service community. Shun Fung Engineering Ltd. was eventually formed in 1982, and became Cummins' Marine and Genset dealer for Hong Kong and Macau. The company soon established itself as a professional marine engine dealer, and Mr. YY Chan became renowned in the marine industry and received many approbations from the industry:

At that time the company was also involved in sales of various equipment for fishboats, engineering vessels, passenger ferries, cargo vessels, pleasure craft and the like.

It was common practice for fishermen at that time to use Gardner engines for marine propulsion. Cummins was not yet acceptable to the market. Shun Fung's unrelenting effort successfully sold the first Cummins engine into the fishboat market, thus laying the foundation for Cummins to eventually become leader in this marine sector. Furthermore Shun Fung was instrumental in the development of the "One net six engines" pair trawling system so unique to the Hong Kong Market.

Population of engines in the Hong Kong and Macau fishboat market is close to 100% Cummins, something that Shun Fung will not be embarrassed to take credit for.

Early 1996 Shun Fung became the China distributor for CCEC marine engines produced at Chongqing Engine Company, a 50/50 Cummins joint venture in China. As the marine market for locally manufactured engines matured, several CCEC marine distributors were added to the Cummins distributor array; Shun Fung, however, managed to sell 60% of CCEC's marine engine production in 2003.

The Shun Fung Group is headquartered in Hong Kong having its own direct role in sales and after-sales activities for the Hong Kong and Macau Market, apart from functioning as a Head Office for its subsidiaries in China. In 2003 Shun Fung's subsidiaries are mainly grouped into 2 major systems as follows:

- Guangzhou/Zhongshan

- Shanghai/East China
